Need Knife Blade Steels?
We carry the most commonly used knife blade steels. Whether you are a beginner bladesmith or a master we have many of the knife steels you need to make beautiful hand-forged blades. We have the most common knife steels for making Damascus, such as 1095 high-carbon steel and 15N20 nickel steel. Many beginners start with our 1075/80 carbon steel. It is eutectoid steel very similar in characteristics to 1084 high-carbon steel, which we have as well. If your previous knives came from a truck why not try some 5160 spring steel? 80CrV2 steel is a true workhorse, that is a high-carbon tool steel that contains chromium as well as vanadium in quantities high enough to affect the strength and hardness of the crystalline matrix of the steel."
Warping - a slight bend in material is completely normal, as our material comes directly from the Mill where it is rolled off a coil and the material might recall the natural curvature of the coil. Additionally, please note that cutting of the material will relieve the stress that is causing the bend. It is more than likely that the bend will correct itself as you move forward in your process.
