A drift, for blacksmiths, is something that is driven all the way through to open a hole.
They are designed to make the final shape of the eye.

Tomahawk Drift which is actually used as a mandrel for wrapped eye on tomahawk.
This blacksmith tomahawk mandrel is designed to be the final shaping tool for the eye making approximate dimension:
- approximately tapers from 7/16" x 5/8" to 1" x 1-1/4"
- 8.25" length
- teardrop shape
- cast ductile iron.
