I am just starting out on my blacksmithing journey.
And this tool is extraordinarily useful.
The ruler is good for up to 8 inches which works.
And the really cool part is the gages for measuring all your working stock -- a lot of which is scrap picked up here and there.. .... 1/4 or 3/16 -- this will let you know.
