1075 Knife-Making Blade Steel

In stock

1075  Cold Rolled and Annealed Carbon Steel.   Sometimes can be clasified as 1080 due to carbon rating variance per pour.

Many beginners start with our 1075/80, It is a eutectoid steel very similar in characteristics to 1084.

Warping - a slight bend in material is completely normal, as our material comes directly from the Mill where it is rolled off a coil and the material might recall the natural curvature of the coil. Additionally, please note that cutting of the material will relieve the stress that is causing the bend. It is more than likely that the bend will correct itself as you move forward in your process.

These are designated with a DARK BLUE painted end

1075 is a medium-high carbon steel, Cold Rolled and Annealed, is often used in place of 1084 as it is more readily available.

Many beginners start with our 1075/80, It is a eutectoid steel very similar in characteristics to 1084.

This is a continuous cast, fine grain, fully killed steel (#5 or better). Material is low phosphorus, low sulfur, calcium treated to enhance internal cleanliness.

In the as-rolled condition, material is well suited for abrasion resistant applications and Damascus-making. In the annealed condition, the material may be cold formed (hot forming suggested for critical bends) with excellent heat treat results.
